Complex Ovarian Mass – Endometrioma or Functional Cyst?

Cindy H

(Re-posted question. I posted last night but only had one response (Thanks for taking the time), but am posting again in the hopes of more responses)
Hi,

I was hoping that someone could provide me with some advice. Below are my reports, this has been going on for more than 10 months. I saw one Gynecological Oncologist and she said that the reports show functional cysts (despite having them for 10 months) that will go away by themselve and no treatment is needed. That was last week.

I saw another Gynecological Oncologist this morning for a second opinion and she said that they are Endometrioma. She has scheduled an Trans-vaginal ultrasound for Jamuary 21, and I will get those results from her on February 4, 2009.

I am completely confused. I do not know which one to trust. Worse still – will these continue to grow? What if they are neither? My CA125 was 63. My father died of colon cancer and my paternal Aunt of Breast Cancer.

My first report dated February 8, 2008 states:
Endometrium double layer thickness is just over 7mm.
The uterus is anteverted with overall diameters 37x40x76mms. There
appears to be a fibroid subserosal posterior at the fundus 24x19x14mms.
In the cervix, there is a little cyst 8mms.
The right ovary is 34x28x22mmx. Here we find 2 follicles or a
biloculted cyst with a thick septum, more likely that these represent 2
adjacent follicles.
The septation between the two are little hyper vascular.
The left ovary is 30x30x28mms contains a follicle 13x8mms.
The cul-de-sac is clear and the bladder appear normal.

Report 2 dated Sept 22, 2008:
The uterus measures 7.7×4.8×3.7cm. There is a fibroid at the fundus
measuring 2.2cm. Endometrial lining is 0.4cm. In both
adnexa there are abnormalities. On the left there is a complex
primarily solid but inhomogeneous irregular mass measuring
6.1×4.1×3.7cm. On the right there is one measuring 2.5×2.4×2.3cm.

Sorry, should have mentioned that I am 37 years old, have never had kids, and got my period when I was 13. Symptoms: bloating pelvic tenderness, lower back and leg pain, headaches, constant need to urinate (sometimes a lot, sometimes a false call!) and extremely tired. Very heavy and painful menses.

back pain and nausea with ovarian cyst?

spurgin5

i’m 29 and was diagnosed with a 4cm complex ovarian cyst (my first one) on my rt ovary about 2 weeks ago. My dr is running blood tests to make sure it’s not cancerous (which i’m totally freaked out over). she also told me that it’s filled with blood and some solid matter (not sure what that is)

they are waiting 5 more weeks to do an ultrasound again to see if it shrinks-if not, they are going to take it out. I’m not sure I can wait that long-i’m miserable!!

I know that pain in my side is normal along with some breast tenderness but I’m currently experiencing severe lower back pain that radiates to both sides of my back along with a pulling sensation and cramping in my rt inner thigh. is this normal?

also-anytime i try to eat or drink anything-i get really nauseated (it’s really bad). I haven’t had much of an appetite either. is this normal too?

any insight would be greatly appreciated!!

Hello..

I’ve been planning on getting my breasts augmented. I even went as far as paying the Doctor and scheduling my surgery, however my surgeon being a great surgeon that he is recommended I get a mammogram, or better yet a sonogram, since I am only 32 y.o. I got a sonogram done and it revealed 4 small cysts. Afterwards I also had a mammogram done per my general surgeons recommendation. I haven’t gotten the results on that yet, but if I’m cleared and Doctor still says I have Fybrocystic disease, can I still go through with my surgery and have impants put in? I really want them badly, especially now as summer approaches. Any advice? Is it safe?

How similar are PMS symptoms to early pregnancy symptoms?

MaryMack

A couple of months ago I had a ruptured ovarian cyst and they took my IUD out as a precaution. Last month I had a fairly light period which started on the 12th July for about 3 days. Since then my husband and I haven’t been able to keep our hands off each other and have had sex nearly 2 or 3 times a day every day. He did use the withdrawal method and we both knew the risks with that.

Anyway since Wed 30th July I’ve had really heavy breasts, lightheadedness, frequent urination, nausea, acute sense of smell etc.. up until yesterday, now my breasts are constantly tingly and I’ve had light cramping (a bit like period pains) all day, irritable and now at 3 am couldn’t sleep and was absolutely desperate for bacon butties. In fact have been desperate for meat for the past two days!!

I’m not due on till the weekend and I feel like I’ve convinced myself I’m pregnant and really these are PMS symptoms. I know I should know inside whether I’m pregnant or not as I’ve had 3 kids before, but I’m just so worried I’m going to be so depressed if I do get my period and I was cooking bacon at 3 in the morning for nothing?!

Has anyone had these symptoms before only to find out it was PMS?
