Can a benign breast lymph node become malignant?

Can a benign lymph node eventually turn into a malignant lymph node?
I am going to have my 3rd mammogram in less than 12 months. I’ve been told that I have a benign lymph node in my left breast but that I need to repeat mammograms every 6 months. I got this information from the hospital where the mammography took place (they mailed me a letter) but have not been told by a doctor. This all started because I have a history of fibroid cysts and had to have my first mammogram at 26. I had another one at 35 and 40. I just recently turned 41 and am going for my 6 month check up. I am wondering if I should make an appointment with my gynecologist about this since she was the one who initially referred me for the 40 year mammography check up in the first place. If not her, then what kind of doctor should I or do I see? Can a benign lymph node turn eventually become cancerous? I’m getting a little nervous and frustrated.

Does it hurt really bad to have a breast cyst drained ?
I have had a lot of pain in just one breast, it went away and now came back. I cannot feel any lumps or anything but it’s very very sore! I have a GYN appointment tomorrow to check on things but of course, I’m scared and I also want to know on a pain level of 1-10, ten being the worst what is the pain factor of getting cyst drained? should I plan to take the day off work? I have no clue. Thanks for answering.

Breast Lump?

I’ve recently found a lump in one of my breast. It very firm and does not move much at all. First my breast was extremely tender to the touch but now seems swollen and my nipple looks almost “crusty” compared to the other. I made a doctor’s appointment to have this looked out, but does it sound like cysts or possibly something else? Any help is grateful and thank you in advance.
I forgot to add that the breast is also discolored and has a slight discharge.

Should I be worried about my breast tumor at 21?

Lynnet B

I’m 21 and in February, my doctor found a breast tumor in my left breast. A week later I received an ultrasound and two mammograms. I was able to see the breast lump on the ultrasound and the mammogram (it was determined that it was not a cyst). The tech informed me that my lump is approximately the size of a quarter (eventhough It feels a lot larger). After looking at the images, the radiologist insisted that it was likely a fibroadenoma. Well, I went back for my four month ultrasound check up last week, and now the radiologists insists I come back immediately for a biopsy. I tried to make an appointment for a week later (since I’m assuming its benign), but they insisted that I come sooner. What could my ultrasound have shown this time that would prompt the doctor to insists on a biopsy asap?

Breast Cancer & Doctors taking their sweet time?

Nichelle P

So about 3 weeks ago my mother went in for her annual mammogram. A mass was found and the doctors wanted to re-test her. Upon her 2nd mammogram they confirmed there was a mass (3cm in diameter)in her left breast (upper quadrant). This took about a week to happen.

The week after her 2nd mammogram, they took an ultrasound of the mass to rule out if it was a cyst, which it is not.

They then made her wait 2 ADDITIONAL weeks before they took yet another mammogram to see if it was growing (which it is). This happened on a Friday.

The following Monday she met with a surgeon/specialist that she set up an appointment with 2 weeks prior. She just met with the specialist yesterday and he is making her wait yet ANOTHER 2 weeks before they needle biopsy the mass…

My question is:
-Has anyone else had issues like this with doctors dealing with cancer?
-Is it standard to take over a month to rule out a possible cancerous mass?
-Should she be concerned that it’s taking this long?
-Can doctors have a good idea if a mass is benign by multiple mammograms & ultra sounds? Could this by why they don’t seem too concerned about it?

This is taking a huge toll on the family… Thanks for any help…

She just turned 48 this month, no history of cancer of any sort in the family

Breast cancer at 22?

I am 22 years old and at my gyno appointment the doctor was alarmed by a large size hard lump (about size of a nickel) a few inches above my nipple in my right breast. My lymph nodes in my armpit are not enlarged and I know that the lump has been there atleast a few months maybe longer but I always thought it was just a cyst because I get really swollen lumpy breasts before my period. Well when I think back this lump is always there. She said its probably just fibrocystic at my age but sent me to get a mammogram and ultrasound. I am really concerned now because my father’s mother did have breast cancer at around 70 and is not 80 and fine. Is the mammogram really painful? Also I was looking online and found that they also usually biopsy lumps, will this most likely happen too??

Can a Breast Cyst just disappear? I mean. I felt a cyst a few days ago, and then it’s not there anymore

What could have happened? I have an appointment with my ob/gyn to see about this, but I’m sure the lump I felt before is just nowhere to be felt anymore … and I tried feeling for it in different positions, when I could feel it immediately right next to the skin just ten days ago. What do you think happened to it??? Now I’m hopeful it won’t be anything to be scared about … and now it’s gone! Thanks for your input!

Breast Lump?

Hello this really isn’t a question but I just wanted to make a statement to all those out there who are scared because they discovered a lump in their breast. From my own situation in my right breast a lump was discovered which I found out via mammogram and songram was a benign (non cancerous) cyst and that my breast was fibrocystic (something that affects more than 60 percent of women). I was so scared and anxious to find out if I had cancer or not, but thanks be to God that it was just a cyst. Please for all women who are anxious and scared go to your doctor make that appointment and get peace of mind and most importanly pray to God and ask him to heal you as I did. God bless!! God does answer prayers, and God helps those who help themselves so always do breast checks and go to your doctor with any concerns they can and will help and clarify alot of things for you because I found out alot about breast lumps and various conditions of the breast.By the way I’m 30 years.God is great
